GET TO KNOW JOE

Joseph Kerr is a professional circus and sideshow artist specializing in pyromancy, the modern discipline of manipulating flame. Over the past decade, he has built a performance career around precision, spectacle, and theatrical storytelling, developing acts that can move between intimate cabaret, large-scale spectacle, and fully staged theatrical productions.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joe first discovered fire performance at 18 years old. The first person in his family to pursue a career in entertainment and live performance, he is largely self-taught—turning an early fascination with unusual skills into his career.

While fire is at the center of his work, Joe’s repertoire spans fire manipulation, fire eating, fire breathing, whip cracking, knife throwing, and human blockhead. His favorite fire move is the candle, a technique that captures much of what defines his performance style: control, danger, and visual simplicity.

For Joe, circus is about more than the stunt itself. Every skill becomes part of a performance, with character, pacing, humor, and storytelling just as important as the spectacle.

He is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
